Senior patient receiving periodontal care

Book a Periodontal Evaluation

We begin with a comprehensive assessment of your gum health, measuring the depth of the pockets between your teeth and gums and taking X-rays to evaluate bone levels. This gives us an accurate picture of where you are and what level of care is needed.

Also called a deep cleaning, scaling and root planing is the most common non-surgical treatment for periodontal disease. Our hygienist carefully removes tartar and bacterial deposits from below the gumline and smooths the root surfaces to make it harder for bacteria to reattach. Most patients require local anesthesia for comfort, and the treatment is typically completed over two appointments.

In some cases, localized antibiotic therapy is used alongside scaling and root planing to eliminate bacteria in hard-to-reach pockets and reduce inflammation more effectively.

Once active disease has been treated, you will transition to a periodontal maintenance schedule — typically every three to four months rather than the standard six. These visits are critical to preventing recurrence and monitoring your gum health over time.
